Lamberts® Vitamin E uses the natural form of the vitamin called d-alpha tocopherol.
We have chosen this form of Vitamin E as this is the most natural form and the same form in which Vitamin E occurs in foods. Research shows that natural vitamin E has a higher biological activity, and is absorbed and retained more readily by the body than the cheaper 'high street' synthetic vitamin E (dl-alpha tocopherol) supplements.
What Is Vitamin E used for? Vitamin E is a powerful natural anti-oxidant that helps protect our cells from free-radical damage. Free radical levels rise in response to strenuous exercise. See the reference American College of Sports Medicine 43rd Annual Meeting: Ergogenic Acids; G. Douglas Andersen, DC, DACBSP, CCN; 1997 details below:
According to a report presented by C. Douglas Andersen, DC, DACBSP, CCN; 1997 to the 43rd Annual American College of Sports Medicine Meeting, athletes would be wise to take antioxidant supplementation after intense training. Andersen's study analyzed 16 males between the ages of 18 to 34. All 16 ran for 30 minutes at 80 percent of their max and ended the workout with a sprint to volitional fatigue. Afterward, some were fed an antioxidant-rich energy bar while others received a placebo. Blood testing analysis revealed that those who took the antioxidant supplementation had greater antioxidant enzymes and lower exercise-induced oxidative stress
Current research suggests that a daily intake of 400iu (268mg) is a sensible level which is the level found in each of our capsules.
